He could barely keep up with the guide as she lead him down the hallway. It was a huge concept to him- for the first time in his life he was allowed to go to school- a real school! Most of his life he had been home schooled- if it could even be considered that. His mother had essentially thrown books at him and left him to try to figure things out. The biggest problem was that all of his books were out dated. He felt almost lucky that he could read. Perhaps that was the one gift she'd given him?
It almost felt overwhelming but he was excited. The chance to actually get to learn.

But for whatever reason, his mother had made sure to grind in his head he was not allowed to use his name. She hadn't exactly said why, instead threatening that if he asked again he would have to stay home. But he couldn't chance it. They'd moved from North Carolina to California in a chance to start over, as she said. Whatever the reason, he was ready. It was almost like loosening the leash. "This is your home room." the guide stopped him in front of a door, partially open. Class had started for them while he was still doing paper work, so he would have to to jump in. She put her hand on his back, pushing him slightly to go in the class. His body stiffened, shuffling slowly into the room.

"Class- this is Eric Clapton. He comes to us from Raleigh, North Carolina. Please do your best to help him feel welcome and get caught up." She smiled lightly and left him in the hands of the teacher and his new classmates. Wow. What a word. He had classmates now. He was instructed to take a seat near the back. "Howdy." one of the boys smirked, turning in his seat to watch him. "You sure you're in the right place? Shouldn't you be pig farming and fucking your cousin?" he laughed, noting that the teacher was busy in his lesson plan to notice. What the hell had he even done to deserve that? He hadn't said a word yet and got that treatment. Perhaps school wasn't what he thought....

Nyx looks up hearing there was a new student. But instead of putting her head down with disinterest her eyes were glued. This new kid was not a city kid for sure. She knew she look away but she couldn't. He had her insides jumping in ways it never had before. She didn't even hear what the teacher was saying. She just watched his every movement. 

She snapped out of it the moment she heard Peter's disgusting voice "Shut it Peter or I'll kick you in the balls- again" he seemed to think she was bluffing every time. Trying to use her "boyfriend" each time because they are pretty much fuck buddies how close they seem. "Don't think I wont" she warns him as he was going to say something. 

She didn't like it one bit he was putting the new kid down to make himself better. Peter just annoyed her so much. Has she thought of his extinction?

More than once.

She kept her eyes on him seeing if he was going to say anything. She was imagining punching his face. Oh how that would feel.

Deron kept his head down as the boy in front of him was turned around and grinning at him, his friends snickering with his derogatory remarks about him. Jeeze. City folk were a lot different than he imagined. Then again, this was Los Angeles and not Raleigh. But his insides jumped hearing the voice of a girl call the boy she identified as Peter out. She was... sticking up for him? He carefully looked over at her out of the corner of his eye as Peter turned his glare over to her. "Shut the fuck up Lilith and mind your own business. Me and the redneck here are just making acquaintances. So butt out before you really piss me off."  He stayed glaring at her and from what Deron could see out of the corner of his eye, she wasn't backing down either. Why was she defending him? He was just a... a redneck apparently. Peter finally turned back in his seat after seeming to feel like he was the winner in the conversation. He must think highly of himself. Slowly he lifted his head a bit and turned to look at her for real. She had him frozen in place. She was stunning! He'd never seen anything like her before. He remembered in the books he had read about how those girls were supposedly beautiful beyond words. Well, that's what she was for sure. "Thank you." he spoke quietly, with gratitude to her for sticking up for him.

She looks at him with a smile. She felt in that moment she was gazing at him forever. And that her annoyance with Peter was settled and calmed just hearing his southern accent. She found herself a bit embarrassed to even be labeled a city girl for there are so many assholes like Peter to make it such a bad thing. 

"you are welcome...Eric" she says. Didn't seem right saying his name, why is that? The teacher did say Eric right? or did she just call him by the wrong name? what an embarrassing move to do for an first encounter if she did!

Eric? He stared blankly at her for a moment before snapping out of it, nodding his head. Oh yes. His name he had picked out for himself. It would take a while to get used to something like that. She was the first really nice person he had ever met here in the big city. "Yeah. That's my name." he nodded, though still trying to convince himself of it. She could probably read he was out of it. She seemed to have these piercing eyes, yet loving like a mother. It was beautiful. He lowered his eyes in embarrassment, his head bowing like he shouldn't be looking at her or speaking to her. Being new sure felt out of place. "I do appreciate it. Nobody been as nice to me as you have."

She kept her eyes with his as she smiled "I am sorry nobody has been nice to you but glad I am the first" look down all shy "I hope I have made it better?" she glances at him shyly as her eyes bat before looking down again. Her sweet, shy disposition made him smile a bit more. Her appearance would have a lot of people where he was from view her almost like a gang member, what with the tattoos and wild style. He couldn't help but find it... attractive. Maybe city folk weren't all that bad. "You did. You made it a lot better." 

For most of the class he couldn't help but sneak glances at her, often times catching himself staring at her. Wow he never knew he could feel like that. Was she going to be the first friend he'd ever had? Something he'd longed for when he'd watch kids play outside from his basement window. As the bell rang his insides had him jump a bit, not knowing where he was supposed to go and if the rest of the students were going to be like that Peter jerk. "um... Lilith?" that was what Peter had called her, right? She hadn't exactly told him her name and he didn't want to fuck up with the first friend he'd had. "Do you think maybe you could show me where my class is? I think I might get lost."

Hearing him call for her sent a rush of sensation. Smiling so hard on the inside as she pauses before turning around to see him looking at her then his paper. "Please, call me Nyx" She couldn't help but look at him, stare at him as she tells him to call her by her middle. She didn't really like Lilith and preferred Nyx. But for some reason, she didn't mind it at all from him "Yes, I can help you" she looks at his paper "come on" she smiles at him. Anything to spend a bit more time with him. "It's actually where I am heading" she said shyly. Was this fate? having another class together?

"Really?" his eyes lit up a bit, looking at her rather excited. What luck he had to have another class with her. He loved the idea of that. He couldn't help it. She made him feel something he never had before. Whatever it was, he liked it. "That's awesome. Maybe... maybe we have other classes together too?" he was a little optimistic, trying not to push it so she didn't get weirded out and tell him to fuck off.

She smiles as her heart jumps in hopes they do. She looks at his classes again and every detail. Her started to race like she was listening to lottery numbers as she looked at the paper. She couldn't help but show her excitement as she looks up at him as they keep walking "we do have all our classes together" smile as big as it can go in hopes she wasn't looking retarted as she looks down in shyness.

He couldn't help the smile that broke out over his face. He had a real friend and she had all the same classes. It was like a huge gift. He'd never had a friend or gone to school so he would have been so lost without her. He quickly put a hand over his mouth to hide his smile though his eyes still showed it. "That's awesome. I don't think I could get more lucky." He felt excited that he wanted to hug her but he held back, instead choosing to follow her in awe to their next class. Wow. All the same classes! how did he get that lucky?!
